Born in New York to an RN mother and Architect father, my parents instilled in me a love and passion for nature, music, the arts, and the simple act of doing/giving. My mother who taught at ASU College of Nursing, volunteered on her days off at free Health Clinics for Native American and Hispanic communities in AZ. I also volunteered there interpreting in Spanish. I have a natural curiosity for everything. At age 15 and already driving, I would often pass by a beautiful old stone building in Sands Point. It was the Helen Keller Institute for the Deaf and Blind. Given my curious nature and love of architecture, I decided one day to venture in, and began volunteering there, going out with the Deaf community. Years later, I moved to the beautiful Southwest, and received my Associate’s Degree from the IPP at Santa Fe Community College. I’ve been interpreting since 2005. Previously a fundraiser at Phoenix Association for the Deaf, I still love to serve the community. As an interpreter, I have learned that we never ‘arrive’. What a wonderful process! To learn every single day! I currently reside in Washington State with my wonderful husband who is deaf.
